Water Privacy Policy

Water is an app for ranking the waters you drink. This policy explains what Water collects, what is public, who processes it, and how to delete it. Contact: drewharts8@gmail.com.

What stays on your phone

You can use Water without an account. Waters you add, your tiers, notes and photos stay on your phone until you sign in. Water does not access your device location.

Your account

Water uses Sign in with Apple. Apple shares a unique user id with us and, the first time, the name and email you choose to share (which may be a private relay address). We store your display name, an optional profile photo, and the reviews you sync.

What is public

When you are signed in, the following is visible to everyone using Water: your display name and profile photo; the waters you rank and their tiers; your tasting notes; review photos you upload; and comments you post on water pages. Your email address is never shown.

Analytics

Water uses PostHog (hosted in the United States) to count app opens, screens viewed and actions such as starting a review or searching. Events are tied to your random Water user id only. We never send your name, email, notes, comments, photos, search text or location, and IP-based location is turned off. You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings → Share usage analytics.

Service providers

• Supabase stores accounts, reviews, comments, profiles and uploaded photos.
• Railway hosts Water's server, which reads water labels from photos you choose to scan and looks up water photos and facts. Label photos sent for scanning are processed by an AI provider (Google Gemini or OpenAI) to read the label and are not stored by Water.
• PostHog provides analytics as described above.
• Open Food Facts provides public water photos and facts (CC BY-SA). We send it the brand name you search for, not anything about you.
• Apple provides Sign in with Apple.

We do not sell your data, show ads, or use your data to track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Reports and blocking

If you report content, we store the report and a copy of the reported content so we can review it. If you block someone, we store that so their content is hidden from you.

Deleting your data

In Water, open Profile → Settings → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, profile, public reviews, notes, comments, uploaded photos and blocks, and revokes Water's Sign in with Apple access where possible. Waters saved only on your phone stay there until you delete the app. Analytics events tied to your random id are kept for up to 12 months and are then deleted. You can also email us to ask for deletion.

Children

Water is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
